Beginning in August and based in Peru, Gerd Burmester Bast has been incorporated as a partner and director of the company. Gerd brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and strong relationships to the table and will help us to continue to grow our Peruvian business.
Gerd’s main objectives will be expanding and developing Vecs supply base in Peru, to provide a wider range of alternatives for our valued customers. Working closely with exporters, we will be focusing on delivering excellent customer service in a key sourcing region. We also know Gerd will make significant
contributions to Vecs strategic planning.
Gerd holds a master’s degree in Management at Piura University, followed by 26 years of experience in multiple executive roles and industries in Peru, including the last 10 years as Commercial Director of Ecosac, a leading Peruvian business in fresh and processed fruit, based in Piura.
Gerd’s incorporation is great news for our valued suppliers and customers, with his exceptional interpersonal and people skills, and experience a great asset to support growth.
In nearly 3 years since starting its operations, VECS has supplied more than 10,000 MT of fresh fruits (cherries, blueberries, apples, pears, avocados, citrus, plums, nectarines, kiwis, and mangoes) from Chile, Peru, and Argentina; working with more than 30 exporters and reaching multiple markets such as USA, Canada, Portugal, The Netherlands, Malta, Cyprus, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, and others.
This volume has been brought to market mainly through 4 key partners that Vecs represents in Chile and Peru: Faikee Fruit and Zelun Trading both from China, Blue Whale SAS in France, and Te Mata Exports Australia.
Vecs founded by Felipe Rodriguez and Ignacio Smith in 2019 both former executives of T&G Global, Hortifrut and San Clemente, is also involved in the cherry sorting and packing services alongside Italian group Spreafico, in a JV that started operations in 2019, and has processed to date more than 6,000 MT of cherries over the past 3 seasons.
