Ignacio Smith

Managing Director

Santiago, Chile.

Ignacio is one of our founding partners, he leads our cherry, grape and apple businesses.

During his 19+ years career, “Nacho” has gained significant experience in the fresh produce business, plus a truly global view having lived seven years in China where he started in-market offices from scratch for leading fresh produce companies.

Before joining Vecs, Ignacio was the General Manager of T&G Global Shanghai, General Manager of San Clemente-Vitalberry Shanghai, and prior to that he had multiple Export Manager roles with Agricola San Clemente Chile.

Ignacio is also an independent director in the board of a Hazelnut project and a Dairy Business with operations in the south of Chile and Oregon, USA.

Gerd Burmester

Managing Director

Lima, Peru.

Gerd joined Vecs as partner in August 2022 as the leader of our Peru business.

During his 26+ years career, he has developed expertise across the agribusiness value chain with an extensive understanding of the Peruvian fresh fruit industry, global markets, and variety innovations that are of tremendous value to our global network of customers and growers.

Before joining Vecs, Gerd was the Commercial Director of Ecosac, and prior to that, he had senior executive roles in Avianca Taca, Supermercados Peruanos and Alicorp among others.

Gerd is also a Professor at the Agribusiness Masters of Piura University.
